Micq

Micq is a good console ICQ clone for linux. It's text based and fast. I've used it for close to two years if not more (time flies..) I started with xicq which also lives in the console but micq has more functionality. Plus I don't think xicq is still in development, though I could be wrong. If you don't like this client, click on the link below to go to Freshmeat and search for one there. You'll find console and X Based icq clients living there.

Freshmeat.net
By far the best linux software site. If you really wanted to, you could probably find a program that'll make coffee. Anytime I ever say to myself "man, I wish they made a program that did <this>" Freshmeat is the first place I look, and I normally find what I'm looking for.

A Useful Linux page that contains HOWTOs and a list of different Linux distributions. An all around OK resource for the average Linux user.

LinuxDoc.org
A very useful Linux site with many (Every?) HOWTO on various subjects, a basic administration guide, along a plethora of useful information.

PCWebopedia.com
A comprehensive guide to many terms on computers or related material. Everyone's experienced the "What the heck is that" syndrome as they're reading through their manuals, or 397 page HOWTO they just spent 7.5 hours printing out on their old Dot Matrix.

Security Focus
Home of one of the best security mailing groups on the internet, Bugtraq. This site contains literally EVERYTHING that deals with security. It has good editorials and it's up to the minute.


Security Portal
Also a good security site. Contains many articles by very knowledgible individuals in the computing industry.

TCP/IP Notes
This page is a collection of a professor's notes from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. It's divided into very detailed lessons and has many useful diagrams.
